Bring it in over winter if you can, or at least unplug it. Coil it loosely rather than tightly. Check the sockets for water before you plug it back in after a long spell outside.

Thirty metres is enough to cross most backyards twice, and that is the number to plan around before anything else. Measure the run, then decide where the sockets fall.

The cord is heavy duty rather than decorative wire. That is the difference between a strand that survives a season outdoors and one that goes brittle.

The replacement bulb is an 11W S14, which is the standard vintage festoon bulb and easy to find.
