Looking after it

Turn it off and let the bulbs cool. Dust the crystals with a soft dry cloth or a clean makeup brush. If they need more than that, a damp cloth on the crystal only, never on the lamp holders, and dry each one.

The arms bend outward and the crystal hangs in rounded droplets rather than sharp spears. That is the whole design decision: round pendants catch light in a softer way and take the hard edge off a metal frame.

Seventy centimetres across is a real chandelier. Over a dining table it wants a table wide enough that the chandelier does not overhang the edges, and in an entryway it wants the ceiling height to carry it.

It arrives as a frame plus the crystals, and the crystals go on after the frame is hung. Customers who have done it describe an hour with a pair of tweezers, working the small links open one at a time.

Eight E14 bulbs, up to 50W each, none included. Dimmable bulbs plus a compatible dimmer switch will take it all the way down, which is what you want over a table.

It is 7kg on a 60cm adjustable chain. Weight matters on a chandelier: the ceiling fixing has to be rated for it, which is one of the reasons this is an electrician's job.
